E-Marketplace
How did TWJ help an aviation industry E-marketplace take off?
Aerospan.com
Aerospan, an E-marketplace venture financed by SITA and AAR
Corporation, was focused on the global air transport industry. The
purpose was to enable airlines, suppliers, and other aviation industry
participants to source, buy, sell and collaborate online.
Key Business Challenge:
- Create robust E-marketplace application for new company
- Launch critical components rapidly
- Lead the nascent company in pivotal technology decisions
The Solution
From Aerospan’s birth, TWJ played a central role in designing and implementing the core E-marketplace application.
TWJ led the business analysis for the initial build vs. buy decision, then designed, managed, and participated in the
creation of the application. We selected complementary software products for content management, external interfaces,
and business process integration, including middleware. TWJ principals were responsible for both strategic direction
and day-to-day project management of a 40-person technology team that included TWJ staff members.
The core software application was implemented in eight months. The E-marketplace itself won several industry awards,
and TWJ’s application and its successful development received recognition by the Computerworld Honors Program in 2003.
