How did TWJ help adolescents with behavioral health problems?
University of Hawaii/Harvard University

The MacArthur Foundation funded a national model program for
adolescent mental health in 2005, whose primary focus is on using
clinical trials to determine which of 3 competing approaches to
behavior health therapy is most efficacious and reliable. This program
is based at the University of Hawaii and Harvard University.
Key Business Challenge:
- Develop a Web-based information system for a clinical
trials program
- Rapidly deliver a new clinical trials application by
leveraging Web survey tools
- Develop a custom solution using tolls TWJ had previously
developed
- Protect the sensitive nature of the collected data
The Solution
Using TWJ’s Web-based survey tool as its foundation,
a comprehensive behavioral health clinical trials application was
delivered to the MacArthur Clinical Treatment Program within 6 months.
This application is now the core operational software for the program,
handling data instrument creation, data collection and validation,
operational work flow, and clinical reporting and analysis. It includes
a sophisticated data privileging system to insure that confidential and
otherwise sensitive clinical data can only be viewed by the appropriate
program participants.
